3D Mammography: Better Diagnosis Tool, Fast, Low Radiation Doses
The 3D Hologic Selenia Dimensions technology can provide clear images of the breasts, detecting an average of 41% more invasive breast cancer on average than traditional 2D mammography, and reduces the number of false-positive cancer findings by up to 40%. The new technology reduces the time of breast compression by up to 3.7 seconds, together with the ergonomic design of the machine, which can enhance the patient’s comfort during the mammography process. It is the world’s first and only system that can conduct a mammogram-guided biopsy. It is also approved by the FDA for tomosynthesis-guided biopsy. 3D mammography has a comparable radiation dose with conventional 2D mammography. The C-view software is able to produce 2D images from the tomosynthesis data, resulting in a low-dose mammography exam.
